Rockbridge Bloodstock Purchased Mares Continue to Shine

The progeny of Rockbridge Bloodstock-purchased mares enjoyed an exceptional first weekend in March logging three wins, including two blacktype triumphs, along with an important placing in a Kentucky Derby prep.

Eileen Alexandra got the ball rolling with an Allowance score on the Friday, March 5 card at Fair Grounds. Previously stakes-placed, the 3-year-old filly is out of the Mr. Greeley mare Miss Stonestreet, purchased for breeder Bob Mahoney for $3,000 at the 2018 OBS Winter Mixed sale.

The following afternoon at Tampa Bay Downs, Domain Expertise won the Florida Oaks (G3) and South Point Sales grad Moonlite Strike ran a good third in the Tampa Bay Derby (G2).

Domain Expertise is out of Teroda, a daughter of Grand Slam, purchased by Ruis Racing on advice of Rockbridge Bloodstock for $275,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton November auction. She’s now a 2-time Graded Stakes producer.

Twinkling was purchased for $42,000 by Rockbridge Bloodstock for Brushy Hill Enterprises carrying Moonlite Strike. The son of Liam’s Map was sold by South Point Sales for $120,000 at Keeneland September 2019 and currently ranks #15 on the Kentucky Derby points standings.

Espresso Shot closed out the weekend with her fourth stakes score in the $100,000 Biogio’s Rose S. at Aqueduct on March 7. Her dam, the Medgalia d’Oro daughter Glory Gold, was purchased by Rockbridge Bloodstock for $14,000 on behalf of Final Furlong Racing. Espresso Shot has since earned $469,105.
