Mike Recio’s Rockbridge Bloodstock offers a wide array of bloodstock services from mating advice to public and private purchases. Stubbins, course record-setter in the 2019 Woodford S. (G2) and 2019 Graded Stakes-placed Colonial Creed are among the winners mated on advice of Rockbridge Bloodstock.
Dunph, a $27,000 2-year-old buy, won the $150,000 Spendthrift Juvenile Stallion Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Dunph is also among the five Rockbridge Bloodstock 2-year-old purchases to have earned blacktype in 2019 along with:
- Jais’s Solitude – G3 Virginia Derby & Sophomore Turf S.
- Getouttamyway – Parx Spring Oaks
- Irish Danzing – Joseph A. Gimma S.
- Irish Hustle – Elge Raspberry S.
Rockbridge Bloodstock has also made many astute broodmare purchases. Almada was purchased privately for Brushy Hill Enterprises well before her half-sister Maqsad scored a victory in the Pretty Polly Stakes. Venturini, now a sister to a 2019 Group 3 winner, was also purchased for Brushy Hill carrying a Temple City colt who is now a stakes-placed juvenile in 2019.
At the 2018 Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale, Rockbridge purchased a pair of mares that have produced 2019 stakes winners – the Medaglia d’Oro mare Glory Gold, now the dam of multiple New York stakes winner Espresso Shot and Causey, dam of Santa Barbara S. (G3) heroine Causeforcommotion. Rockbridge also purchased the mare Native One at KEENOV 2018 carrying a foal by Mastery who sold less than a year later for $325,000.
The Bob Baffert-trained Just a Smidge has added Graded blacktype to her resume since Rockbridge Bloodstock purchased her dam Pooh Corner at the 2019 Keeneland January sale. Credit Swap has placed in four Stakes in 2019, including the Grade 3 Virginia Derby. Her dam, Fantastic Shirl, was purchased at the 2018 Keeneland January auction.
