February 28, 2019 – Sharp Witted kept his perfect record intact with handy score in a 6-furlong Allowance contest at Fair Grounds.
The flashy chestnut colt opened his account with a victory against fellow Louisiana-breds at Delta Downs February 8 and was favored at 7-5 to repeat. Under Florent Geroux, Sharp Witted was quite keen as he raced in a close-up fourth through an opening quarter in :22.54. Sweeping up three wide to challenge turning for home, Sharp Witted took command at the top of the stretch and drew clear in the final sixteenth for a two-length score.
A son of the speedy Grade 1 winner Jimmy Creed, Sharp Witted was sold by South Point Sales for $60,000 at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale. He later changed hands at last year’s OBS April Two-Year-Old in Training auction and now races in the colors of Maggi Moss.
Sharp Witted has accumulated $54,000 for his two victories and seems destined for stakes company in the near future.
